CTRL COLLECTIVE - ILLUSION OF CHOICE

You think you’re in control of your life — but technology already owns you. Illusion of Choice is an interactive experience that reveals how digital systems quietly shape behavior and reward obedience. What feels like a personal decision may already be influenced before you even notice. Inspired by the parallels between humans and domesticated animals, the work mirrors how control operates — not through brute force, but through subtle repetition and routine. This installation invites you to confront power, surveillance, and manipulation in the digital age. Illusion of Choice is created by CTRL Collective: Gülce Çetin, Adi Soebdhan, Emma Meesters, Kristina Kapperud, Senno Evers, and Luna Mouahbi.

This project is part of the ongoing collaboration between CreaTe (Creative Technology) at University of Twente and GOGBOT, where students transform research and experimentation into public installations that challenge the way we live with technology.
