Monument of Peace (2026)
HIMMELSBACH
A contemporary reinterpretation of memorial monuments and an analogy of what peace looks like today. A piece of land consisting of a lawn, fenced off with NATO wire, where no one is allowed to enter. The grass is mowed frequently with a drone lawnmower.
HIMMELSBACH is a Dutch artist whose practice blends art, social research, and civic intervention. Through methods that range from community-based collaborations to political pranks, and investigations into alternative ways of living, he creates situations that connect large political questions to everyday life. His projects invite participants into a poetic, sometimes humorous form of engagement that challenges conventional perspectives and encourages dialogue across social boundaries.
