Synthetic Halo (2026)

During a short meditation, the Halo machine registers your brainwaves and translates them directly into a personal, ever-changing soundscape and visual environment. The work brings together artificial intelligence, brainwave sensors, and insights from meditation and Buddhism to investigate whether an intimate state such as enlightenment can be perceived, measured, and shared - based on insights over which you have no control.

Kurina Sohn is a South Korean multidisciplinary designer, researcher and lecturer. At the beginning of 2025, she followed a development process at Tetem, in Enschede. Kurina is fascinated by emerging technologies and how these influence human perception and thinking.
