Double Think

For GOGBOT’s MANUFACTURED MINDS theme, ViaOral has developed a new artwork with a title that references 1984, George Orwell’s dystopian novel. Orwell’s concepts provide the ultimate blueprint for the manipulated mind: Newspeak deliberately restricts language in order to make critical or autonomous thought physically impossible. Doublethink forces the brain to simultaneously accept two contradictory facts as true. Both concepts demonstrate how external systems can rewrite reality.
